Ancillary Task - Poster Design #1

This is our first poster, we are erally pleased with the outcome however after printing the poster out and analysing it, we decided that we do not like the position of the Billing Block, we are going to move it around and see what it looks like at the bottom of the poster - a convention that realist posters generally use.

Name of our film

Since changing our idea we have lightly played around with a number of different film names, such as;

• 4 Seasons - however to do go forward with this name we think it would be best to have four women, and focus on winter through to a happier time of summer, so it didnt really fit to what we are doing.
• Problems of a female/girl - We thought this was too obvious and wasnt very symbolic.
• Falling - Quite plain, not sure on this.
• Falling Down - Falling down to pick yourself back up again?
• Rock Bottom - Have the women hit rock bottom? in their eyes yes, could be a good name. Rock bottom is the worst life can be, so things can only get better - shown in our trailer
• 3 Women - based on a similar film to ours, a French film called 8 women. Its simple but effective.

Genre

The genre of our film is British Social Realism. The film trailer focuses on 3 women and the not so obvious everyday problems women go through. Through the research I have done of Social realism film and posters, the location shots are generaly run down, urban areas of stereotypical of the working/middle class. The symbol of having a red brick wall has come up a lot, so to convey some stereotypical aspects in our trailer we are going to involve this both in the trailer and the poster. The brick wall background on the poster will represent two things; one being the genre and the typicality of it, and the other being a symbol of how each 3 women have hit a brick wall in their lives.

Settings - Location Shots

Location #1. We have chosen this location for the widow, we thought the park garden is quite a romantic setting and fits to the shots we wanted of the girl. The shots will also include the river in the same park garden.

Location #2. To get the point across that the woman is grieving, we decided to include a graveyard, however this seemed quite sad so we have decided that we will have positive, hopeful music over this part to show that the woman is moving on with her life.

Location #3. This is the part of another girl, the single woman who basically sleeps around a lot. Showing multiple shots of the girl walking out of different doors will portray this, along with the other shots this girl will be in.

Location #4. The club, AZUZA, makes a small appearance in the trailer, showing the alcoholic girl drunk and at a party, this shot only needed to be short as it is almost seen as a flashback.

Location #5. The childrens park. Plays a great signifcance to the single girl, toying with the idea of if she is pregnant or not.
